For a number of years, Moena has been part of the “Alpine Pearls” association, which is made up of local Alpine towns that promote and support high-quality, sustainable tourism.

Taking care of the environment and continual research on itineraries are guiding principals for the association. It also undertakes activities that encourage tourists and residents alike to fully enjoy the nature around them on foot or by other ecologically sustainable means, leaving more polluting technologies behind.

Moena and Sustainable or “Soft” Transport

The village of Moena does not have a ski area, but that does not mean you need to take the car every morning to get to the slopes! In fact, many hotels offer their guests transport to the Ski Area Alpe Lusia–San Pellegrino.  Free, public ski buses come by frequently picking up passengers going to the local ski areas.

Other hotels have decided to promote the use of public transport. They offer guests, who hand in their car keys at check-in, discounts on treatments in their hotel wellness centre or bar and restaurant. For more information, please visit the Alpine Pearls office.

Relaxing Holidays

The soft transport system let’s you savour the peace and tranquillity of Moena during your vacation.  The main squares and roads along the river are closed to traffic for a few hours in the afternoon, offering guests the chance to enjoy the centre without cars. Sport activities in the area include:  cross-country and downhill skiing; snowboarding; telemark and alpine skiing; and ice-skating. You can also take a hike on foot or with snowshoes or have a comfortable ride in a horse-drawn carriage.  Guests have the chance to immerse themselves completely in nature, guaranteeing their relaxation and wellbeing.
