The Scufoneda is a telemark skiing festival. Telemark skiing is an old form of downhill skiing which has come back into fashion over the last few years. Today, the Scufoneda is an unmissable event for telemark skiing lovers, who come together every year in February/March in Moena for a week of enjoyment, during which they put their skills to the test and take part in daily excursions and competitions. Some competitors dress up in traditional clothing and throw themselves wholeheartedly into the fun events and shows.

Telemark skiing, which originated in Norway during the second half of the 1800s, is a special form of skiing also known as “free heel skiing”.

The Scufoneda owes its rebirth to the “Scufons del Cogo” club, a group of telemark skiers who came together in the 1990s thanks to five people from Moena who promoted this old form of skiing.

Nowadays, this event attracts fans of the sport from all over Europe and is continually developing and improving. As well as the traditional events like the fiaccolata notturna al Passo San Pellegrino (night precession along the San Pellegrino Pass), other Alpine ski excursions for every level are organised too.
